Since the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel took effect, not a single day has passed without the occupation violating its terms. Israel continues to carry out systematic killings, maintain its military presence in Gaza, and block humanitarian aid, defying the core provisions of the agreement.
Over the past 52 days, Israel has committed numerous grave violations, killing more than 150 Palestinians through sniper fire and drone attacks. At the same time, it prevents life-saving aid—including food, medicine, construction materials, and shelters—from entering Gaza. The occupation also refuses to fully withdraw from the Gaza Strip, maintaining control over the strategically important Philadelphi Corridor.
The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor confirmed that Israel is committing genocide by using starvation and a suffocating blockade as tools of slow death. It documented the ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestinians, particularly those attempting to return to their homes near the imposed buffer zone along Gaza’s northern and eastern borders.
Daily Targeted Killings
Israeli drone attacks continue to claim civilian lives. On Monday, a drone strike killed Abdullah Ali Al-Sha’er and wounded another Palestinian east of Rafah. Just hours earlier, another attack killed three brothers—Mahmoud, Mohammed, and Ahmed Abdullah Ahmed—northeast of Al-Bureij refugee camp.
The report also highlighted the deadly targeting of civilians in Rafah, where Israeli forces killed Abdul Munim Ali Qishta (53) inside his home and launched drone attacks that killed Mahmoud Hussein Farhan Al-Hissi (37) and Mahdi Abdullah Nadi Jargon (39). Similar attacks have been recorded in Shuja’iyya, east of Gaza City, and Beit Hanoun in the north, pushing the total death toll to 150 since the ceasefire began, with an average of three Palestinians killed daily. Additionally, 605 others have been injured, an average of nearly 12 per day.
Israel Cuts Electricity to Gaza
In a further escalation, Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen announced last Sunday that he had ordered a complete halt to electricity supply to Gaza. This comes after Israel blocked humanitarian aid from entering the strip for over a week, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis.
The single electricity line from Israel powers Gaza’s main desalination plant, which serves over 600,000 people. With fuel entering Gaza in minimal quantities, residents rely on solar panels and generators for power. Hamas has condemned the ongoing blackout, warning that cutting off electricity and water supply for over 16 months is a war crime that risks causing mass dehydration in Gaza.
A Looming Humanitarian Catastrophe
Euro-Med Monitor warns that Israel’s actions are not just violations but a deliberate policy of extermination. The blockade has led to food shortages, with relief kitchens and aid centers shutting down due to the lack of supplies. Since March 2, all crossings into Gaza remain closed, increasing the risk of famine.
The report also stressed that starvation is not the only crisis at hand. Malnutrition among children is worsening, leading to irreversible health damage, weakened immune systems, and stunted cognitive development.
Gaza’s Healthcare System on the Brink of Collapse
Dr. Mohammed Zaqout, Director-General of Gaza’s hospitals, confirmed that Israel has completely blocked the entry of medical equipment, including essential diagnostic tools like MRI and CT scan machines. Since October 7, no vital medical supplies have been allowed into the strip, further crippling the healthcare system.
Israel’s Genocidal Policy and International Responsibility
Israel’s actions fit the legal definition of genocide under the 1948 Genocide Convention, which prohibits imposing conditions designed to destroy a population. Even after the ceasefire, Israel continues to impose lethal living conditions on Palestinians, aiming for their gradual elimination.
Euro-Med Monitor calls on the international community to take urgent action to halt Israel’s genocide, enforce an immediate end to the blockade, and ensure unrestricted access to humanitarian aid. It also urges the International Criminal Court to expedite its investigation and issue arrest warrants for Israeli officials responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The report warns that Israel’s systematic starvation tactics, combined with its military coordination with the U.S. to forcibly displace Palestinians, constitute a deliberate plan for ethnic cleansing. It calls for economic, diplomatic, and military sanctions against Israel, including an arms embargo and freezing the assets of individuals involved in these crimes.
The world cannot continue turning a blind eye to Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Immediate intervention is needed to stop the deliberate starvation, destruction, and mass killing of Palestinians before it is too late.
