Settlers, protected by Israeli police, installed an iron gate at the entrance to Silwan's Wadi al-Rababa neighbourhood, home to more than 1,000 Palestinians, blocking service vehicles, WAFA reported.

Local sources said the gate went up on Tuesday morning and completely closed the neighbourhood to service and support vehicles.

More than 1,000 Palestinian Jerusalemites live in Wadi al-Rababa, according to WAFA.

No Israeli police comment was included in the report.
