Army chief saw no reason to continue Hebron raid, but Netanyahu ordered it on
The military had wanted to announce a wind-down as early as Saturday night, according to Kan. The disagreement surfaced a day before Israel's general election.

Israel's public broadcaster Kan reported that army chief Eyal Zamir told Netanyahu there was no operational justification to continue the Hebron operation, and the prime minister ordered it to continue.
Zamir recommended on Sunday that the operation end because its objectives had been met, Kan reported, as cited by The New Arab. Netanyahu rejected the advice.
Soldiers quoted in Israeli media complained that they were wasting time; one said some had not been home for 28 days.
Channel 12 reported that Netanyahu cancelled a Likud faction meeting, citing security matters.
The IDF said troops had found a tunnel about 15 metres deep near a gunman's home, scanned more than 500 buildings and detained about 50 suspects.
