UN rapporteur urges Indonesia to rethink joining Trump's Board of Peace
Indonesia has pledged troops to the Gaza stabilisation force. Its foreign ministry says board discussions remain on hold.
UN special rapporteur Francesca Albanese told Reuters in Jakarta that Indonesia should reconsider its role in Trump's Board of Peace, arguing the rules are set by Israel and Palestinians lack a voice.
Albanese recommended Jakarta work instead with the Hague Group, which includes South Africa and Malaysia.
A board official rejected the claim that Palestinians are excluded, pointing to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza led by Ali Shaath.
President Prabowo Subianto has reportedly vowed to quit the board if it does not benefit Palestinians.
